Does the chalkboard have to be framed?
Yes, we only build our chalkboards with a frame. The chalk panels are steel and have very sharp unfinished edges - which are covered by the frame.
Is the chalkboard surface magnetic?
Yes, we only build our chalkboards with a premium magnetic porcelain chalkboard material. This is the highest quality chalkboard surface available and will provide a lifetime of use with proper care. We also include our button magnets - so you can stick photos, invitations and artwork right to the chalkboard surface.
I see that you add a chalk tray to your boards - can I order a chalkboard without the tray?
Yes - we can build a custom chalkboard with or without the chalk tray. The matte black tray sticks out 1-1/4" beyond the frame.
How long does it take to build and ship a custom chalkboard?
Please allow about 2 weeks for your handcrafted board to ship. Oversized boards or large quantity orders may take longer. Your board will be delivered by Fedex Ground and we will send you a tracking number when it ships as well as a update on the day it will be delivered. You can also request text updates in the checkout process.

Can I use the wet chalk markers on these?
Yes, as we use a premium chalkboard surface - so the wet chalk markers work well. We do not provide these markers - however we do provide a assortment of artists chalk with your purchase.
How big of a custom chalkboard can you build?
The biggest custom chalkboard we can build is a 8 ft x 4 ft. The cost on this size would cost around $1000. plus freight shipping.
Is there a minimum cost or size for a custom chalkboard?
Our minimum cost to build a custom sized chalkboard is $125. plus the shipping cost.
How do I hang/install my chalkboard?
We include our super easy to use hanging hardware on every board that ships. We do offer several different types of hanging hardware depending on the size and weight of your board. See this page for more detail on our hanging hardware.
Can I return my custom chalkboard if I don't like it?
Sorry - custom built boards are non-returnable. We suggest ordering a frame sample before you order so you can make sure your custom chalkboard will be the perfect fit and look for your space. We also recommend using some painters tape on your wall to 'map' out the perfect size.
